"What is this magic?!?"

Oddment Tweak is a storyline (text-based role playing game) for creative writers. Some of us have been writing together off-and-on for many years, since we established our first Potter-themed storyline (Hogwarts: a History) in the late nineties. We always welcome fresh voices, and require only that you have a basic understanding of writing (grammar, punctuation, and characterization) to participate. Anyone is welcome! Just be willing to be creative and have fun.

How often do you play?

It will vary through seasons, most-likely, depending on how much time people have available and who's inspired to write. We're all adults with lives and responsibilities, so the storyline will undoubtedly go through hot-and-cold periods and we don't really have activity requirements. We're a non-competitive storyline, and will allow things to happen at their own pace.

How do you interact?

Interaction will take place all sorts of ways, and pretty much through whatever medium people feel like using: chat rooms, messages, e-mail, Google-Docs, Owl Post, forum play, lonely messages floating in bottles on the ocean... y'know, whatever.

So, I can even play deceased characters - or characters from Fantastic Beasts?

You can, yes! Assuming your deceased character is one of those displaced by the mysterious time-meddling object from the Department of Mysteries, you could play just about anyone from any time period passed. Characters from the future, however, are not part of this plot - nor could you play a former version of a character who is still alive in the present. These situations will not be accounted for in our ultimate explanation.

Cam I join your forum?

The Owl Post will be for members only. You will have to apply to join before you can interact on our forums. Once you have been screened, you can sign up for the forum and will have your membership approved.

What are the rules?

The most important thing to note is that we do not tolerate harassment, abuse, or habitual disruptive behavior. The canon setting should be honored and respected (don't alter or change what J.K. Rowling has established to be true about the world and her characters), and original characters are very welcome - but should have reasonable backgrounds and abilities. No, you cannot play a half-Veela vampire animagus who happens to be Harry Potter's long-lost daughter - and please don't set the Forbidden Forest on fire. Thanks.
